Along with our normal homeschool reading list of banned books, I have ordered this book which seems a part of a series highlighting women doing heroic things during times of war and unrest. It will be a thought-provoking conversation starter for the kids and me.

It’s 26 separate stories in this one book (with others available) so my plan is to read it first thing every school day and talk about whatever they want to talk about.

Starting the day with thinking and discussion is an important lesson that is so often overlooked when we think of homeschooling as “school at home” instead of a chance to explore and learn about something other than rows of math problems or memorizing spelling words.

Now, more than ever, my kids have to have the tools needed for critical thinking and to recognize what is happening around them. It’s not an easy approach to take, but one that I think is lacking with most of us.

I’ll let you know about the book when it arrives.

What literature are you bringing to the school table? Let me know!
