Thanksgiving Countdown Day 8: Get out the Bread Machine

It’s not just for collecting dust in the cupboard, having a bread machine is such a great way to save space and cleanup! I use my bread machine mostly for making dough. It’s the perfect proofing container, and it keeps all the mess contained in one small bread compartment. Really, it’s a must have, especially for a big cooking day like Thanksgiving.

As far as what you look for when buying a bread machine, they come in various sizes, but you want one that can make a 2 pound loaf. Some machines only make 1 or 1.5 pounds, but I suggest the 2 pound because you can make any recipe you find. I also find that having a lot of fancy extra features isn’t necessary (there is even a machine that also makes butter), but I do like the countdown timer to start so I can put my ingredients in the night before.

First thing Thanksgiving morning, I make cinnamon rolls to wake the house up. The kids who are coming over for the day also know that cinnamon rolls are served first thing and to get a move on. My rolls are super soft and fluffy, the cream cheese frosting is perfect, and they don’t last long.

If you are lucky, you can find one at the thrift store! So many people don’t realize what they have and end up giving theirs away. I have paid $6.00 for each of mine over the years, and have even dropped one on the kitchen floor, which broke the door hinge. It still worked like a champ for 10 years.
Hope this inspires you!
