It’s here again, one of my absolute favorite stretches of the year. The Thanksgiving season always feels like stepping into my comfort zone. It is a full-on cooking marathon. Somehow, it relaxes me more than anything else. When life feels loud or scattered, the kitchen is where I go to settle my thoughts. Feeding people has always been my love language.
I know many people feel stressed about planning. Organizing and pulling off a big holiday meal can be daunting. It breaks my heart a little. It doesn’t have to feel that way. I keep writing as The Farming Wife because I want to help. New or nervous cooks can do many small, helpful things to feel confident in the kitchen.
Getting organized is the biggest one.
I use my Thanksgiving helpers: lists, planners, reminders, all the little tools. They help me stay on track. They also make the season feel fun instead of frantic. We also keep a thankfulness jar going. It’s a simple thing, but it grounds us. No matter what’s happening outside our walls, we get to look at everything we’ve built through hard work and intention. It sparks the best conversations all year long.
And of course, we build our Thanksgiving menu together. We eat a lot of the same classics every year, but everyone gets to add their must-haves. Apps, sides, desserts, little traditions, it all matters. It guarantees that everyone has something on the table that feels special and familiar.
So yes, I’m starting a couple of days late this year, but we’re still doing a Thanksgiving Countdown for 2025. I’ll be sharing printables, recipes, tips, reminders, and all the holiday goodness right up to the big day.
Let’s jump in and make this Thanksgiving feel good.
