It’s storming (again) so that means I have to make something sweet for the family to survive. LOL. My one-hour dinner rolls were so popular on the blog that I thought making a tasty one-hour cinnamon rolls should be next.
Dough:
- 1 3/4 cups warm water
- 3/8 cup sugar (approximately 6 tablespoons)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 3 tablespoons yeast
Mix and let sit for 15 minutes. Then add:
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1 1/2 eggs (you can lightly beat two eggs and use about half of the mixture)
- 5 1/4 cups flour
- Mix together for 10 minutes, then let the dough rest for another 10 minutes.
- Oil your countertop (no need for flour), dump out the dough.
- Press out dough into a rectangle, spread 2 tablespoons of melted butter on it, followed by a generous dusting of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. (Protip: add some crunchy bacon bits before rolling.)
- Roll it up, not too tight.
- Slice into 12 rolls, and place them on a greased cookie sheet. (tip: Place rolls with sides touching as much as possible so they rise a mile high)
- Let them rise until they are the size you want.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes at 400°F.
Cinnamon-Sugar:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
Frosting:
- 1/2 cube of butter
- A dash of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- Milk (add it gradually until you reach your desired consistency)
