This is an easy recipe for rice pilaf, in a loose sense. I realize it is not the same as the little box of rice pilaf, nor is it the fancy restaurant style dish. Its just yummy and family friendly. It also contains a minuscule amount of salt, unlike the first two. Ok, here we go:
Homemade Rice Pilaf
1 cup dry rice
1 oz thin spaghetti or vermicelli-broken into 2 inch pieces
1 tbsp olive oil
1 pat of butter
2 cups of chicken or beef broth(both are delicious)
S/P to taste
In a large saucepan, melt butter and olive oil together.
Add dry rice and broken pasta
Sauté on medium heat, until lightly browned
Add broth and stir well
Turn heat down low and cover tightly
Cook for 15 minutes
Let sit for 5 minutes to keep from sticking together.
Season with s/p
Enjoy!
