Today, I am sharing my Garlic Sourdough Bread recipe, because it is super tasty and can make a boring pasta meal a little more exciting.
I like to have a general idea of our upcoming meals, and once a week it is pasta. This is the perfect time to put the bread machine to work. I think of pasta night as nearly a night off since I can make the sauce, let it cook all day, make the bread, and walk away. It’s a great choice if you are busy and need a meal practically made for you. My cheap bread machine even has a timer so you can set it to complete at a specific time. How cool, right? Let’s get into it.
Pro Tip: Make this recipe on the dough cycle and bake the dough in the oven OR make rolls! It’s a great one.
Garlic Sourdough Bread
- 3 Tbsp thinly sliced green onion
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1 1/3 cups Sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 cups bread flour (I use AP flour)
- 4 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
Saute green onion, garlic, and Italian seasoning in the olive oil for 2-3 minutes or until the onion is soft, stirring often to keep from burning garlic.
Cool slightly and add sauteed mixture with remaining ingredients to your machine according to the manufacturer’s direction.
Use a basic white bread cycle.
Allow this bread to cool before slicing, or you will not be able to cut clean slices.
