Best Thing Ever: Our Farm Is Moving Back Home

Our New Farm

Our New Farm

If you are connected with me in any way online, you are well aware that we have finally sold our farm here in Nebraska and purchases a sweet homestead in Northern Maine. We have been cyber stalking this place for months (nothing weird, just looking at all the realtor photos and checking out the place on Google Maps). It was as if a huge weight was lifted from my chest when everything finally came together.
The future of our family is finally secure. We will be in a beautiful part of the country, back near the ocean, forests and the land where I actually grew to love the herbs that are so important to me still to this day. It is home.

The closing date now looms, and the kids are actually wavering between excitement and distress over the idea that they have to pack the homeschooling books. We have a LOT of books. :-)

I am sure there will be plenty of sharing once we get moved. Look for videos and photos of our beautiful land, as it awakens from its winter sleep. Now, if only I could stop daydreaming and get back to work!

  1. I’m super excited for you and can’t wait to hear about your adventures!!!

  2. Hello from Maine! I took the photos and created the web site for the farmhouse. The sellers have found the perfect buyer! I look forward to following your blog and to welcoming you to Maine…just in time for mud season!

Thank you so much for commenting! Your site has gotten us through the last 8 months of stress and anxiety about selling this farm in time to buy that one. Phew!
It’s a beautiful site, and we spend far too much time staring at all the photos. :-)

      Warmly,
      Amy J

  3. I just stumbled on your blog after googling homeschooling in Maine. We are looking to move to Maine in May. We really like the Ellsworth, MDI area but are concerned about finding a community. Wondering where is your new farm and are there any other homeschoolers there? ? Hoping to find we aren’t the only one’s! My email is sailingpuzzled@yahoo.com if you want to drop me a line. We have 3 kiddos, ages, 10-11. Thanks, Wendy Taylor

    • Wendy – Woo hoo! Back to Maine for you guys too!
I think you will be wicked far from us-nope I just checked. It’s a bit less than 2 hours from South Robbinston to Ellsworth. I am sure there are groups near you though. Let’s face it; two hours means a quick 1 hour for each of us, to meet up for something awesome to do, right? :-)

I like this site to meet other homeschooling families. You could ask them if anyone is in your area.
When you get to Maine, look me up!

      Amy J

  4. When I first moved to Maine, I was amazed at the number of home-schooled children. I’m in between where Amy is moving and where Wendy wants to move. You WILL find community and plenty of awesome things to do! Wendy, if you want, I can introduce you to a wonderful Ellsworth-based Realtor who I’ve used for multiple sales/purchases.
